Stockport Tree Services were recently called out to look at a large Beech tree in Marple, near Stockport. is a small town that sits just in between Stockport and the High Peak borough of the Derbyshire Peak District. We regularly carry out Tree cares services all across Marple.
The Common Beech Tree
Beech trees are one of the UK’s most common trees and they tend to grow tall. This was the case with this tree, it was situated very close to the boundary hedge of neighbouring gardens, and its roots were encroaching in the neighbouring garden, becoming a problem.
The tree had also begun to drop branches. When branches fall over property boundaries of a garden, you need to take action. If someone is hit by a falling branch from your tree, you could be liable for damages. This could run to thousands of pounds.
Felling a Tree Using Sectional Dismantling
If a tree is growing close to a neighbours property like this, it’s always best to fell it by sectional dismantling. This prevents any risk of the trunk or branches falling on to your neighbours’ property and causing additional damage, unwanted mess and inconvenience.
How we dismantled the tree
We used ropes and pulleys to climb to the top of the tree, then began by cutting away the large boughs and lowering them safely down to the ground. This then left only the uppermost branches which are then cut with a small chainsaw. We follow the same procedure with the smaller boughs and branches.
We then gradually worked our way down the tree until we are at ground level.
Stump Removal
Customers then have the option of whether to leave the stump in situ or to have it removed. In this case, the customer chose to leave the stump in situ. The garden was large, and there was no need to immediately reuse the space. The tree had only been cut down for safety’s sake.
However, sometimes if the landowner wished to remove the stump, we’ll bring in a stump grinding machine which will soon make light work of the remaining tree stump and any large roots. this then leaves the simple clear for a patio, garden buildings or car parking.
